Thank you for 11 years of changing lives and education!
June 23, 2026
Evolutions is being "paused" for its Gen 12 (2026-2027 school year). The reasons are due to district budget constraints, lower than expected student interest, and staffing changes within the program.
The Evolutions team still strongly believes that our approach to education -- student centered, project based, community based learning -- adds tremendous value to student growth and achievement of those durable skills that transcend the classroom.
We sincerely hope that WPS will find a way to re-ignite or re-imagine the Evolutions program going forward to help the next generation of students have the experiences that almost 400 previous students have been able to have.
We also hope that even though Evolutions isn't currently running, other districts and schools can learn from us about what is possible with the right teachers, space, time, resources, and support.
I'm thankful to the current Evo teachers - Mindy Hoge, Crystal Bartels, and Christine Desrosiers (all reachable through Wellesley High School) as well as past Evo teachers - Emily Giddings, Craig Brown, Larry Lovett, and Alice Liao. I'd also like to thank Dr. Chisum for being the spark for Evolutions and giving us the ability to run over these past 11 years.
If you are curious about the current status of the program, you can reach out to Dr. Chisum. If you are looking to get further information about the history, building or running of Evolutions, you can reach out to Thom Henes.
Stay Curious,
Thom & the Evo Team
